Overview

A fantastic excursion in Nepal’s isolated western Himalayan region is the Upper Mustang Trek. This amazing journey package from offers a chance to discover undiscovered beauties. Geographically speaking, this area of Nepal is distinct from other areas.

Many people believe that the Trans Himalayan region was once a seafloor. Upper Mustang is notable for being a rain shadow region that experiences year-round dryness. The regions’ desolate, desert-like vistas have a striking resemblance to Tibet’s Ngari region.

The three main ethnic groups in Mustang are the Thakalis, Gurung, and Tibetans. In addition, there are Bhotiya, Tamang, Limbu, and other ethnic groups. The predominant religion is Tibetan Buddhism, which is shown by the large number of Gompas, chortens, mani walls, and other Buddhist sites.

Itinerary

Arrival in Kathmandu and pickup from airport and drop in 3 start hotel in Kathmandu on BB plan.

Today you will be preparation for your trek. Our team will help you to get around town and look for your trek gears if required including trek maps. Rest you will have the whole day for yourself. You can go around Thamel area and enjoy local cuisine and meet local people.

Today you will be taking your flight to Pokhara. The flight takes about 30 minutes. You will be picked off from your hotel in Kathmandu and dropped off at the domestic airport. After you land at Pokhara you will again be picked and dropped at your hotel. You can rest for some time at your hotel and then take a stroll around the Lakeside area.

You'll get up early to take a picturesque mountain flight from Pokhara to Jomsom. The entire flight takes about twenty minutes. The Himalayan peaks, which include the Annapurna range, Dhaulagiri, Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), and other summits, are visible. We are going to reach Jomsom after taking in the breathtaking view of the mountains.

The porters, who are necessary for high-altitude trekking in the area, will be introduced to you in Jomsom. In addition, the hiking guide will leave from Kathmandu and be by your side the whole way. Your tour to Kagbeni can begin once you have all of your Upper Mustang Trek permits and have finished the necessary documentation. The stunning hamlet town of Kagbeni is home to amazing attractions, such as the Kag Choden monastery. It is the entry point to Mustang, and the trip there from Jomsom takes around three hours.

You will travel on some of the area's most distinctive paths. The region has desolate, desert-like scenery. Additionally, you can take in this breathtaking geographical view prior to reaching Kagbeni. In Kagbeni, you'll spend the night in a lodge or guesthouse where you may unwind.

These days, the trail climbs through rocky terrain to reach the river valley beside the Kali Gandaki. As you ascend along these trails, the route gets broader. While hiking these trails, you may see mules transporting items from Mustang and Tibet.

Following several hours of hiking, we will reach Kang monastery and a number of caverns. We are going to have lunch there, in the village of Tangbe. This settlement has a number of chortens, stone-paved homes painted white, and other notable features. Amazing orchards of apples, barley, and buckwheat may be seen in these fields.

Along these treks, visitors can also take in breathtaking vistas of snow-capped mountains, like Nilgiri. We will carry on walking to the Kali Gandaki River and cross it using suspension bridges after lunch. After that, the trail takes you up a steep and rocky hill to Chele. Your lodging will be in a teahouse or lodge.

Beginning with a difficult ascent along these lovely pathways, the trek ascends. This day, you will hike for roughly six or seven hours. You'll go through several amazing landscapes, one of which being a deep canyon. Then, as you get to the steep canyon that will take you to Samar, the drop starts.

You will then follow your track up a ridge to the village. Along these terrains, you will then drop once more to a vast gorge. The valley is full of beautiful juniper trees. After that, you'll cross a river and climb one last time to reach the mountain pass. After there, we'll keep going downhill, which will bring you to a little village. After a few hours of walking, we will arrive at Syangboche, where we will spend the night.

Your journey will begin in Syangboche and take you through the stunning scenery of the area. Enjoy breathtaking views of the Kali Gandaki gorge and mountains during this ascent. After that, you'll travel through a number of routes until dropping. After that, you'll go via a number of the local communities, like Tamagaon and Chhunggar.

Before reaching Jhaite, this road will pass through several traditional communities. You'll travel along local trails that offer breathtaking views of the snow-capped peaks. The pleasant trail that leads to Ghami will then take you on a descent. The Ghami teahouse is where you will spend the night resting.
Your journey will begin in Syangboche and take you through the stunning scenery of the area. Enjoy breathtaking views of the Kali Gandaki gorge and mountains during this ascent. After that, you'll travel through a number of routes until dropping. After that, you'll go via a number of the local communities, like Tamagaon and Chhunggar.

Before reaching Jhaite, this road will pass through several traditional communities. You'll travel along local trails that offer breathtaking views of the snow-capped peaks. The pleasant trail that leads to Ghami will then take you on a descent. The Ghami teahouse is where you will spend the night resting.

You will begin your walk on climbing routes to reach Tsarang after an early morning. After a quick breakfast, you will set out on your adventure. The highlight of this hike is a 250-meter prayer wall that runs beside the trail.

Following our meal, we will travel through a variety of landscapes before crossing a gorgeous river and ascending the magnificent Tsarang La Pass. You will descend through Tsarang on a downward route from Tsarang La Pass. This quaint mountain village offers views of snow-capped peaks in every direction.

The trek takes you to Lo Manthang, which is our last destination. You will carry on with your journey while seeing these amazing local scenery. It takes about four to five hours to finish and travels a total of eleven kilometres. The broad path progressively winds through steep terrain.

These out-of-the-way routes wind past scenic vantage spots that offer breathtaking views of the surrounding area. The region's notable mountain peaks include Dhaulagiri, Annapurna, and other Himalayan summits. You will go through the stunning red and white Sungda Chorten on your way to Lo Manthang.

Furthermore, Kingdom Lo's previous capital was Lo Manthang. There are numerous settlements of the ethnic Lo people within this walled town. Up until 2008, when Nepal's federal republic government was formally established, Lo was a monarchy. In Lo Manthang, you will spend the night at a local lodging.

We will explore Lo-Manthang, the region's centre, and acclimatise on this day. It is still about fifty km from the border with Tibet. It served as the main hub for clothes and salt trade between Tibet and Nepal. Goods and other items are still transported from Tibet using mules.

This lovely settlement's 6-meter wall is one of its most noticeable and appealing features. Beautiful towers can be found throughout the walled city of Lo-Manthang. Numerous sites with cultural and religious value can also be found within this fortified city.

Important sites include the Thubchen Monastery, the King's Palace, the museum, the Jampa Monastery, the locations of Thangka paintings, and others. In this area, there are still about 900 Lo families. This particular colony of Lo does not migrate to other places; instead, they marry inside their group. They practise Tibetan Buddhism in the Bonpo tradition.

Furthermore, the city was off-limits to outsiders until the 1990s. Even though the city is currently open, just 1000 people are able to visit this stunning location annually. Only hikers who have been approved by trekking agencies are permitted entry into the area. You will return to your lodging and spend the night there after visiting the area.

Following our exploration of Lo-Manthang's stunning sites, we will begin our journey with a strenuous climb to Chogo La (4,230m). You will have a fantastic adventure along the amazing mountain pass that runs across the area. We'll follow the path that takes you to Lo Gekar after traversing the mountain pass.

The main draw of Lo Gekar is the Lo Nyingma sect's Ghar Gompa. After that, this trail leads to Muila Bhanjyang, where you may enjoy breathtaking views of the surrounding mountain range. Additionally, the track leads to the stunning town of Dhamkar. In Dhamkar, you will spend the night in teahouses.

After that, the trail drops down to Ghami Village. After ascending past earlier trails, you will reach Nya La Pass. You will then walk down to Jhaite after that. Once you reach Jhaite, you will eat lunch and then proceed to Syangboche. After several hours of travelling, you will arrive at Syangboche, where you will spend the night.

Today's trail from Syangboche takes you to Chusang. This walk passes by a number of the area's most significant monuments, including the well-known Ranching Chungs Cave. Then, after several hours of trekking, we will arrive in Samare. Buddhist pilgrims value this cave greatly as a historical site. Legend has it that Guru Rinpoche meditated in this cave sometime in the 8th century.

You will go on your journey and across Taklam La and Djong La Pass. After that, you'll go uphill to the river and descend along these routes. At last, we will reach Samara, where we shall eat lunch. You will travel to Chusang Village for a few hours after lunch and relaxing for a while. Chusang Guesthouse is where you'll be staying.

This walk to Jomsom passes through a number of amazing courses. To reach the well-known town of Jomsom, you will walk for about five to six hours through a variety of woodland routes, farms, lush hills and tiny communities. Along these treks, the breathtaking views of snow-capped mountains, such as Nilgiri and Dhaulagiri, will mesmerise you.

After there, you'll drop past a number of towns, including Khingar and Jharkot. Along these pathways are also chortens and a variety of holy Buddhist monasteries. After then, your journey will follow the Kali Gandaki River until it ends in Jomsom. Along these pathways, you can purchase souvenirs and see other tourist attractions in the lovely city of Jomsom. You will spend the night at Jomsom's resort or guesthouse.

You will take an early morning flight to Pokhara to witness the breathtaking sunrise. The picturesque mountain flight to Pokhara travels across a variety of the area's picturesque scenery in around twenty-five minutes. Once you're in Pokhara, you can tour this stunning lake city and go to some of its attractions.

Pokhara is a popular tourist destination with top-notch places to view. This city's notable landmarks include Devis Falls, Phewa Lake, the World Peace Stupa, museums, and more. Additionally, you can stroll along the stunning lakefront and unwind in its charming ambiance. The Lakeside neighbourhood has lodging options, cafes, pubs, restaurants, and nightclubs. Overnight at a hotel in Pokhara.

You will board a bus for a picturesque journey to Kathmandu following breakfast. The trip takes about six to seven hours and travels through breathtakingly beautiful scenery. Alongside the Trishuli River are hamlet villages that you will also pass. Once in Kathmandu, you can continue on to your next location.
